Hangzhou Convention and Exhibition Industry Association was established in June, 2003, and consists of exhibition departments, exhibition companies, exhibition halls, advertisement planning companies, restaurants, travel agencies, and research and teaching institutions of exhibition. Under the guidance of the relevant government departments, this association conducts internal coordination of the industry, defends its member's legal rights and interests, organizes external exchange and cooperation of the industry, helps the government to manage the industry, so as to form a self-disciplined industry mechanism, upgrade the comprehensive quality of the industry and promote the healthy development of Hangzhou's exhibition industry. Hangzhou Municipal Office for Coordinating the Development of the Convention and Exhibition Industry is the competent authority of the association.
By the end of 2005, this association had had 56 unit members and 29 individual members. Its routine work includes:
Editing and circulating its association journal. So far, 12 issues of the journal have already been edited and circulated, which forecast the information of each exhibition hall, publish survey and research results of the industry, publicize the industry policy and promote information exchange within the industry.
Conducting statistics of the industry. Approved by the Statistical Bureau of Hangzhou in 2001, and based on the statistic work in 2004, the association in 2005 adjusted statistics indices, updated statistical charts and tables, enlarged the scope of statistics, and sent statistical tables to around 54 units, including its member units, some schools of higher learning, restaurants, hotels and traveling agencies for collecting data and analysis report.
Promoting exchanges within the industry; In order to support the investigation and research of the convention and exhibition industry, the association held discussions for many times in 2005 to enhance the exchanges between members, and to solicit suggestions from its members on the industry development and on the existing problems. The association also took the opportunity to organize 9 member units to Hong Kong to carry out exchange cooperation with the convention and exhibition enterprises in Hong Kong when the municipal government held "Cooperation Exchange Fair between the Convention and Exhibition Industry in Hangzhou and Hong Kong".
Cooperation and coordination within the industry. The association actively helps its members to contact with each other, and organizes its member units to cooperate with each other for holding exhibition. For example, during the 1st China International Cartoon & Animation Expo in 2005, six member units cooperated with each other in an exhibition. At the same time, this association also plays a coordinating role when its members repeatedly hold exhibitions or when their exhibition periods conflict with each other so as to maintain the healthy development of the convention and exhibition market. |
