April 2nd, as one of the programs in the 12th West Lake International Expo, the Public Health Internationalization Strategy Forum 2010 Hangzhou was grand opening in Zhejiang Hotel. Mr. Bai Huqun, vice-director of China National Patriotic Health Campaign Office and vice-director of Disease Control and Prevention Bureau of Ministry of Health, Mr. Chen Xiaoping, vice-mayor of Hangzhou Municipal Government, Sir Liam Donaldson, chief health officer of the U.K. and Wei Lun visiting professor of the Chinese University of Hongkong, Dr. Jeannette Young, chief health officer of Queensland, Australia, Mr. Li Liming, party secretary and executive vice-president of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Beijing Union Hospital Medical College, Mr. Ye Zhen, deputy director-general of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Health, Mr. Ye Min, deputy secretary-general of Hangzhou Municipal Government and director of Hangzhou West Lake Expo Office, and Mr. Zhang Lianshui, deputy secretary-general of Hangzhou Municipal Government were present at the opening ceremony. Mr. Chen Weiqiang, chief of Hangzhou Municipal Public Health Burea, presided over the opening ceremony.
Mr. Chen Xiaoping, vice-mayor of Hangzhou, addressed to the opening. Hangzhou City is working on accelerating the transformation of the economic development mode and transformation of the city developing ways. To this end, Hangzhou initiated to develop low-carbon economy, build a city of low-carbon and health, and create a quality of life, comparable with world famous cities. Since 2009, Hangzhou has been honored as the only capital city of China National Construction of Healthy City by Ministry of Health and China National Patriotic Health Campaign Office. Hangzhou Municipal Government is making every effort to be the China National Cleanest City.
In the process of constructing a healthy city, Hangzhou will strengthen the exchanges and cooperation with World Health Organization and other International organizations or units, learn the advanced technology, equipment and expertise from other countries, and reach a higher level in the construction of a healthy city.
Themed as “Healthy City and Public Health”, the Forum fully embodied the concept of “People Oriented, Health Centered”. The Forum invited both domestic and international experts and professors on public health to discuss the current situation and prospect of the public health industry, including chronic disease prevention and control strategies, rising to the challenge of chronic non communicable diseases, evaluation of Chinese Tobacco Control Policy, etc. |
