It was a fine spring day of pleasant breeze.
On the morning of March 27th, 2010, an elaborate and sumptuous banquet of culture and food was grand staging in Hangzhou. “Welcoming the World Expo Shanghai, Appreciating the Chinese Famous Paintings, and Tasting the Traditional National Delicacies” West Lake Food Cultural Festival 2010 and Painting Collection Exhibition were opening in Zhejiang West Lake Art Gallery. Mr. Zhang Jianting, vice-mayor of Hangzhou Municipal Government, declared the West Lake Food Cultural Festival open. Mr. Ye Min, vice secretary-general of Hangzhou Municipal Government and director of the Office of the West Lake International Expo Organizing Committee, performed the opening ceremony. Mr. He Shuifa, member of the National Committee of CPPCC, member of Zhejiang Provincial Committee for Handling Proposals of CPPCC and member of China Artists Association, Mr. Wang Junyi, consultant and former vice-director of the Coordination Bureau for Shanghai World Expo Affairs, Mr. Qiu Jianping, vice secretary-general of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and vice secretary-general of Hangzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Liu Qinglong, party committee secretary and director of Hangzhou Trade Administration, Mr. Liu Ying, director of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Cultural Relics, Mr. Dai Guoqiang, president of Hangzhou State-Owned Capital Running Company, Mr. Wang Xinzhang, vice-director of Hangzhou City Travel Committee, Mr. Zhang Weimin, member of China Artists Association and vice-chairman of Hangzhou Artists Association, Mr. Shen Guanzhong, vice-chairman of China Hotel Association and chairman of Hangzhou Restaurant and Hotel Industry Association, and other leaders and guests attended in the opening ceremony.
Mr. Ye Min said, this event would be an elaborate and sumptuous banquet, demonstrating the culture and history of Hangzhou, and the taste and visual beauty. Famous paintings and delicious food as the channel, this event showed Hangzhou citizens’ enthusiasm in welcoming the World Expo, and would enhance the communication and collaboration between cities, and increase cultural and food exchanges.
As an important program of the West Lake Food Cultural Festival 2010, and of Hangzhou citizens welcoming the World Expo, the “Welcoming the World Expo Shanghai, Appreciating the Chinese Famous Paintings, and Tasting the Traditional National Delicacies” Event was highly valued and supported by Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Hangzhou Municipal Government, the Office of the West Lake International Expo Organizing Committee, Hangzhou Trade Administration, the Leading Group Office of Cultivating and Developing Ten Special and Potential Industries Hangzhou, Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Cultural Relics, Hangzhou State-Owned Capital Running Company, and other units and organizations. This year’s Festival combined the elements of the World Expo and cultural Hangzhou with the traditional food festival. The Lou Wai Lou Restaurant Co. Ltd. would exhibit over 100 modern artists’ masterworks, disclosing her historical and cultural deposits, and the relationship between Chinese calligraphy & paintings and food culture. |
