June 6th, 2010 has been declared to be World Expo Shanghai Hangzhou City Day. Attention will be concentrated on Hangzhou City from World Expo Shanghai. We note that Hangzhou City has been busy in preparing for this special day.

Activities and events on the Hangzhou City Day will be developed under the subject of “Better City, Better Life” (the theme of World Expo Shanghai) and “Harnessing Five Waters, Quality of Life” (the theme of World Expo Shanghai—Hangzhou Hall). The Hangzhou City Day aims at introducing both the ancient and modern Hangzhou to the world, featured in history, culture, tradition and custom, as well as vigor of the city.

Performances will be designed into a morning show, an afternoon show, and an evening show in the World Expo Shanghai Global City Square. The performances will exhibit Hangzhou’s folk arts, cultural arts, traditional products, handcrafts, acrobatics, dancing, operas, and travelling videos as well.

World Expo Shanghai is taken as an opportunity of promoting and publicizing the 12th West Lake Expo and the 2nd World Leisure Expo 2011. The mascot for West Lake Expo—Huanhuan, and the mascot for World Leisure Expo-Jingjing will have their marvelous show in the performances.

Foreigners’ answers to World Expo Shanghai Questionnaire show that Hangzhou hall is the No.1, compared to other city exhibition halls, e.g., Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Suzhou. Hangzhou is one of the 15 cities that westerners most want to go.
