On March 15th afternoon, the organizing committee working conference on Hangzhou participating in World Expo Shanghai was held in Xinqiao Hotel, Hangzhou. Mr. Zhang Jianting, vice-mayor in Hangzhou Municipal Government, Mr. Ye Min, vice secretary-general in Hangzhou Municipal Government and director in the Office of West Lake Expo Organizing Committee, and leader representatives in the Office of West Lake Expo Organizing Committee, International Publicity Office CPC Hangzhou Committee, Municipal Travel and Tourism Committee, Office of Municipal Economic Cooperation Committee, Municipal Public Security Division, Shanghai Office of Hangzhou Municipal Government, Chun’an County Government, etc., presented at the conference. This conference aimed at reporting working progress of Hangzhou’s participation in World Expo Shanghai last year (2009), and making plans for 2010. Each present unit had reported their performance in 2009 to Hangzhou Municipal Government.

The Office of West Lake Expo Organizing Committee made the first presentation to the conference. Mr. Shi Yongsheng, the presenter and vice director of the Office of West Lake Expo Organizing Committee, talked that they were carrying out their duties under the theme of “Integrated into Grand Shanghai, Involved into Yangtze River Delta”. Seizing all opportunities, jointly organizing events and activities, they shared working accomplishments with others, e.g., Shanghai Press for the 11th West Lake International Expo, establishment of the designing group for City Practice Exhibition Halls—Hangzhou Hall, World Expo Shanghai, promotion and advertising in Hangzhou for World Expo Shanghai, making a plan for “Friendship Day in the Yangtze River Delta area”, organizing a trip to World Expo Shanghai, etc., in the year of 2009. In 2010, the Office of West Lake Expo Organizing Committee will continue take the opportunity of World Expo Shanghai to promote West Lake International Expo and World Leisure Expo, enhancing the international influence as well as advancing the preparatory work.

Listening to the presentations made by each government committee, Mr. Zhang Jianting, vice-mayor of Hangzhou Municipal Government, made a conclusion to this conference. He directed eight objectives for 2010 working plan: enhancing leadership and working progress; defining duties and responsibilities, and promoting cooperation and negotiation; advancing construction of Hangzhou Hall in World Expo Shanghai; accelerating preparatory work of Hangzhou; fully preparing for visitors and tourists; enhancing more publicity; working out an overall plan for World Expo Shanghai without delay, and; encouraging enterprises to attend in the Expo, and taking the opportunity to boost economic growth.
