The annual Wushan Temple Fair opened grandly in Qinghefang Historical Street and Wugong Mountain on October 15. As an important cultural activity of the Temple Fair, the memorial ceremony of Wu Zixu, a strategist in the Period of the Spring and Autumn, will be held in Wugong Temple on Wugong Mountain for the first time. About 200 people will attend this ceremony, including decedents of Wu Zixu, representatives of the general public and official guests from all over the country. The whole ceremony consisted of 9 procedures, namely offering flowers and wine, reading funeral oration, paying homage collectively, setting free animals with best wishes, etc.
It is reported that this year’s Wushan Temple Fair will last 7 days and come to the end on October 21. A responsible person from the Fair organizers shows that the memorial ceremony of Wu Zixu will be a fixed program of Wushan Temple Fair in the future, which aims at further enriching the cultural connotation of the Fair, and being an inevitable part in applying for national intangible cultural heritage for the Wushan Temple Fair.
